Richard Deverell is a professional illustrator and freelance cartoonist who began his working life as a graphic artist in London. As a freelance illustrator and graphic artist, Richard was fulfilling commissions from publishers of children's picture books, school text books, language books, advertising agencies, magazines and design studios before the advent of the Apple Mac and Adobe PhotoShop. And where colour was required, he employed water based inks, applied with hair and airbrush for the buildings and backgrounds.

Richard's illustration style of strong line and bright colour lends itself well to PhotoShop, but he continues to use the traditional methods if this is what the client needs. Richard's style has international appeal and his books have been co-editioned in many countries including Japan, South Korea, Europe, USA and the Middle East.
